Here's the Rubdown.

Relaxation or Therapeutic?

Whether you just want to relieve stress, or you need to alleviate more specific pains, your massage treatment will be tailored to meet your specific needs – from general overall relaxation to a more clinically therapeutic massage. Different modalities of massage exist, and your session will usually incorporate one or more of the following types of massages:

Swedish Massage

Considered to be one of the most popular modalities, Swedish Massage is a full-body treatment that uses a system of long, gliding strokes, kneading, friction, percussive, and shaking motions or vibration techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles. This produces a positive effect on all layers and systems of the body - it affects the nerves, muscles, glands and circulation, while promoting health and well-being. Benefits include decreased muscle tension, anxiety reduction, a stronger immune system, improvement in blood circulation, and detoxification and balance of the nervous system.

Deep Tissue Massage

With some strokes that are similar to Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue massage is designed to reach the deep portion of thick muscles, specifically the individual muscle fibers. Movements are generally slower and more deliberate – deep finger, hand, or elbow pressure is often used to stretch, compress and release contracted connective tissue and muscles. The goal is to unstick the fibers of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held patterns of tension.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)/Trigger Point Therapy

A more specialized modality, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a program of recovery from acute and chronic pain sundromes by utilizing specific massage therapy, including the pressure of trigger points, to eliminate the causes of pain patterns. Trigger points are tender areas where muscles have either been damaged or acquired a recurring spasm or "kink" that worsens painfully when aggravated. They typically "refer" pain to the immediate surrounding areas, or sometimes areas that are very distant from the tender point. Pain and dysfunction is relieved by locating and alleviating this underlying cause by applying pressure to induce new blood flow and oxygen into the affected area. This approach provides balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. NMT also enhances the function of joints, muscles, and movement, and it releases endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers.

Percussion (Vibration) Therapy

Percussion therapy is available as a separate service, or as an add-on to a masage session. Using the Hypervolt® Massage Therapy Device, percussion utilizes rapid movement and generates vibration to ease muscle tension and reduce minor aches and pains in focus areas. Beneficial for those stubborn areas that may be a little more difficult to relieve solely with massage.

Seated or Chair Massage

Lasting anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes, the client, fully clothed, sits in a special, portable massage chair. No lotions or oils are used while the shoulders, neck, back, head, and arms are massaged. Perfect for small businesses of three or more.

Treat a friend or family member with the gift of wellness - great for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, or just because.
